Descent into rainy season

I’ve entered winter: my “descent into rainy season,” as I described it last year.  In British Columbia, it rains most of the month of November, and is dark.  At the risk of sounding tragic, I find this constant drumming depressing.

Winter is also a time of stripping away – a time of withdrawal, bareness.

It’s been a delight to rediscover painting as a valid escape as I process my seasonal melancholy.
